This project constructed a the NYSDOT’s new sub-headquarters for the northeast portion of Region 10 over a 3-acre site. The facility houses a prefabricated maintenance garage for NYSDOT trucks and equipment, a fueling station, parking amenities, and regional offices for the northeast Suffolk region. Hirani Engineering & Land Surveying P.C was retained as a subconsultant for Kallen & Lemelson and was responsible for completing the site survey, structural design, and civil site design.

Site design included background research for the site, wetland delineation, and geotechnical investigation. Hirani oversaw the geotechnical investigation working with a soil boring contractor to conduct the borings, perform infiltration tests, and prepare a geotechnical report. A SWPPP was prepared identifying the water quality calculations for the recharge basin immediately adjacent to the site ensuring that the new drainage system complied with NYSDEC standards.

Civil / Site engineering services included grading and drainage design, road alignment, a site utilities plan, erosion and sedimentation control plan, and technical specifications. An on-site sewer disposal system was designed for the facility.

Structural Engineering services were provided for the prefabricated truck maintenance building which included the employee offices, foundation design, and slab on grade design.

A detailed set of construction drawings were provided for the project. Construction phase services included reviewing contractor submittals and answering RFIs.
