Project Highlights:
  • Structural Feasibility Study

Noresco Solar Building Assessment

As part of the City of New York’s initiative to expand sustainable energy infrastructure, Hirani Engineering provided structural feasibility analyses for the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and heat pump systems on various NYC-owned existing buildings.

Scope of Services:

  • Conducted desk reviews of building structures to assess reserve load capacity for supporting future solar PV and/or heat pump systems.

  • Identified potential structural limitations that could affect system installation.

  • Contributed to feasibility assessments by flagging any fatal flaws that could prevent implementation of sustainable systems.

  • Provided engineering recommendations regarding structural reinforcements needed to meet requirements under Local Laws 92 and 94 of 2019 related to sustainable roofing zones.

  • Participated in the review process, incorporating comments from NORESCO, DCAS, and agency partners.

Hirani’s work supports New York City’s goals toward sustainability and electrification by ensuring that existing building infrastructure can safely accommodate clean energy technologies.
