Centre Island Fireman’s Arch

Since the current park entrance will be used for the Drill Team, the side access road will become the main access point. The existing ticket booth will be relocated, and a new foundation slab provided. Traffic striping and signage plans will show the new layout along with the relocation of the appropriate wayfinding signage.

Cost estimates will be prepared throughout the design process in accordance with the Town’s standard specifications for heavy infrastructure.

Construction administration and full-time inspection services will be provided during construction, which will include shop drawing review, responding to RFIs, and project meetings.

Hirani is providing comprehensive engineering services for switching the locations of the Centre Island Fireman’s Arch with the Centre Island Beach Park entrance. The new drill team course will host the annual 2022 Nassau County Drill Team Competition.

Hirani used aerial photogrammetry and topographic survey to create a basemap of the park to identify the road elevations, utility mark outs, lighting, and landscaping. The topography is being used by Hirani to design the new roadway elevations for the course and additional drainage for drill team operations. New electrical services were brought to the region for equipment and pumping operations by Hirani’s subconsultant, Lizardos Engineering Associates.

Hirani is conducting rigging design to relocate the existing Fireman’s Arch using a crane into its new location. New foundations will be designed for the arch as well as a storage shed which will hold applicable equipment and pumps.
