The project involves providing design-build services for a new retaining wall system at Tracks B5 & B6 at Bent #500 in Coney Island Yard/Avenue X Yard in Brooklyn. Additionally, it includes replacing the Saint Marks Ave. Viaduct Bridge located between Saint Marks Avenue and Prospect Place in Brooklyn, along with the replacement of track, ties, and related track equipment.
The project entails designing and constructing a new retaining wall system for the Coney Island abutment, including support for electrical, signals, traction power, track, and environmental aspects. Coordination with other ongoing projects in the yard, such as Sandy Repair and Resiliency work, is necessary. The current condition of the abutment wall supporting Tracks B5 and B6 at Bent #500 is severely compromised, with various structural issues such as cracks, deteriorated bearing sections, and corroded girders requiring attention.
Hirani will provide Construction Management and Inspection Services for the repair of the Abutment Wall at Coney Island Yard, which includes coordinating the replacement of the bridge. This involves overseeing the design and construction of a new retaining wall system for the abutment, as well as managing the repair of structural deficiencies such as cracks, deteriorated bearing sections, and corroded girders supporting Tracks B5 and B6 at Bent #500. Additionally, Hirani will coordinate the bridge replacement project, ensuring seamless integration with the abutment repair work and other ongoing projects in the yard, such as Sandy Repair and Resiliency efforts.
